CSD Convenes Conference on Human Resource Development for microfinance institutions

The Centre for Self-help development (CSD) organized a conference on Human Resource Management for microfinance Institutions from Ashadh 10-11, 2076 in Dhulikhel, Kavre. The conference was attended by 35 higher level executives from 25 microfinance institutions of Nepal.

The conference aimed to increase the efficiency and develop the capacities of human resources of microfinance institutions. The conference also sought to address the obstacles and challenges seen in the management and development of the human resource of the sector and seek measures to improve microfinance program and follow the principles of the microfinance program of Grameen bank, Bangladesh.

Inaugurating the conference by lighting the traditional Lamp 'Panas' The Chairman of CSD Mr. Shankar Man Shrestha Said, "The success of the microfinance program is built on the foundations of a strong human resource and the honesty and hard work. So, it is necessary to develop positive thinking, for skill and efficiency towards poverty alleviation in personnel of microfinance institutions." On course of the conference the sessions were facilitated by resource person from Bangladesh, Mr. Mohammud Abul Hossain General Manager of Grameen Bank, Bangladesh and Mr. Bikal Sherchan management expert from Nepal. The participants were enlightened on the principle, policy and methodologies of human resource development in Grameen Bank.

During the feedback session the chief executive officer (CEO) of Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. Ms. Shova Bajracharya said, "Nepalese microfinance institutions can also follow the procedures of employee selection and human resource development of the Grameen Bank that will pave a way forward for a better human resource."

The two day program officially ended with the closing remarks by Mr. Shankar Man Shrestha who said, "The change in the behavior of the employee should be started with top level management." He also added the MFIs should choose appropriate MFIs for merger themselves rather than merged forcefully.
