Boosting Entrepreneurship: CSD's 4-Day Training on Entrepreneurship Development

The Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) organized a 4-day Training on Entrepreneurship Development including one day field study visit of successful client entrepreneur from May 7th to 10th, 2024 (Baishakh 25-28, 2081). The program was again organized due to positive feedback from the last training which was held on March 31st to April 3rd, 2024 (Chaitra 18-21, 2080). 18 officials from 9 Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and Microfinance Co-operatives (MFCs) and 2 Agriculture assistants from CSD participated the training to enhance the skills and abilities of officials to microfinance members develop as an entrepreneur engaging in their income-generating activities and enabling them with Entrepreneurial skills. Developing entrepreneurship among the members is expected to strengthen the sustainability of the branch and organization.

In the opening ceremony, Mr. Bechan Giri, Executive Chief of CSD, emphasized the role and significance of entrepreneurship development in MFIs and MFCs, highlighting its impact on entrepreneurial skills of client member. CSD initiating Entrepreneurship Development as a campaign throughout the country in association with its member organizations.

Mr. Satish Shrestha, Director of CSD, talked about why we need more entrepreneurs now than ever. He said that supporting microfinance members to become entrepreneurs is necessary to making sure that they can pay back their loans.
The Training was facilitated by the in-house trainers of the CSD the Assistant Director, Mr. Sopan Bista, Senior Officer, Ms. Renu Prajapati, and the Officers, Mr. Chandrakant Pandit and Ms. Bigya Gyawali.

As the part of the training program, one day-long field observation and study visit dividing the participants in 6 groups to successful client entrepreneurs, provided invaluable insights into local opportunities and available resources as per the participants of the training. The visits to businesses offered concrete examples of entrepreneurial success, fueling inspiration and observatory learning.

The training kicked off by the concepts of enterprise, entrepreneur, and entrepreneurship. This helped identify potential entrepreneurs, laying the groundwork for their success. The session also covered how to select the right enterprise to secure the investment. Additionally, facilitators delved into costing elements, pricing strategies, and methods of goods and services, equipping participants with essential business skills.
Moreover, the training focused on identifying local opportunities and available resources for entrepreneurship development, emphasizing the role of demand and supply in the market. Participants also learned about the Business Registration and benefits of insurance.
As per the participants in the closing ceremony of the training was deemed relevant and effective in addressing the present scenario and empowering the participants to support their client members in developing their business plans and promoting entrepreneurship. Participants were awarded a training completion certificate in the ceremony.
