Training on Identification and Development of Micro-entrepreneur

CSD organized two day virtual training on "Identification and Development of Micro-Entrepreneur Members" from Magh18-19,2077, (Jan31-Feb1, 2021) where17 branch managers and  senior field officers from 10 MFIs and cooperatives participated.

The training has been organized for branch managers and field officers with the objective of identifying the customer members according to the essence of microfinance and making them entrepreneurs. Welcoming the participants of the training, Mr. Satish Shrestha, Director of CSD and Head of Training Department, said that the training covers the topics of teaching and helping to work according to the essence of microfinance.

“The purpose of the training is to provide in-depth knowledge on how to achieve the goal from analyzing the potential of customer members to becoming successful entrepreneurs. In addition, the training is expected to help reduce the existing problems related to the development of micro-entrepreneurship in the microfinance sector and also to develop the capacity of entrepreneurial members. ” Shrestha said.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Gokul Pyakurel, a prominent facilitator and expert in the field of micro-entrepreneurship. In order to develop a successful entrepreneur and sustainable enterprise business, microfinance workers need to pay attention to how to select entrepreneurial customer members, how to choose enterprise or business for members, how to increase the selected entrepreneurial members and their enterprise business, to increase the return on business. Development expert Gokul Pyakurel imparted theoretical knowledge as well as practical exercises.

The 1st day of the training included the current situation, opportunities and possibilities of small enterpriseand case study on business plan. In order to solve the case study 4 groups had been formedand the participants presented their work after group discussion. In the 1st day Mr. Pyakurel also showed a video about avocado farming. Likewise, 2nd day included the concept of business plan and ways to develop micro- entrepreneurs. The video of tomato farming was showed to the participants.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Instructor Gokul Pyakurel said that by choosing the training organized by CSD, the organization has provided important opportunities to the participants and the participants should work according to the spirit of the training at the field level. He also thanked all the participants for participating it actively. He suggested participants to create PAN of the members who have taken loan from them. He also advised to watch the talk show in Kantipur television named money talk and also to revise all the handouts provided to all the participants.

Mr. Umesh Man Dangol, head of training department from Mero Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiyta Sanstha Limited was present in the training as an observer. As per the observer, the training was very fruitful and very important so 90 percent microfinance workers need to take this training.

The participants gave positive feedback regarding the training. They appreciated the management team of CSD for conducting the training smoothly. Though it was online platform it was effective, the session was done practically, so it was clearer. Mr.Durga Mani Paudel Senior field officer of Sahara Nepal Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited said zoom was more effective than physical training as there were fewer disturbances.

Mr. Bechan Giri, Executive Chief of CSD during closing sessions said that microfinance institutions and microfinance workers would be better off only if the enterprise or business of microfinance members was continued. It is important to pay attention to what kind of business is appropriate in which place, how much loan to disburse in order to do business, how to give loan, when to give, etc., andthe lesson learnt must be implemented and discussed with other staff members.
