Microfinance Institutions and Microfinance Practitioners Felicitated for their Outstanding Contribution in Providing Non-financial Services

On the occasion of 32nd Anniversary of the Centre for Self-help Development held on August 13, 2023, MFIs and microfinance practitioners who have made outstanding contribution in providing non-financial services to members were also felicitated by CSD. Three institutions Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Nepal Mahila Samudayik Sewa Kendra and one staff member of Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sasntha Ltd were felicitated by CSD.

CSD in partnership with its member organizations has been carrying out activities with promotes indigenous knowledge and technology, environmental protection as well as optimal utilization of local resources for creating sustainable practices as well as minimizing environment related hazards  through initiation of Environment Friendly Self-help Village Development Program in Dharpa-3 of Barhabise Municipality.

Manushi has been implementing the program initially in 129 households. With the initiation of Manushi, the program has been able help members cultivate off-seasonal vegetables, rain water harvesting through construction of plastic ponds, promote improved cook stove for clean energy promotion as well as support in the production of vermin compost. It has also been promoting greenery through initiating its members to plant at least three fruit bearing tree saplings in their households. These activities have helped members deal with water scarcity during dry season, produce organic fertilizers and enhance productivity as well as grow off-seasonal vegetables though incorporation of appropriate technology like tunnel farming. The local government has also initiated activities to support the locals for marketing their products.

Similarly, Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sasntha Ltd. has been felicitated for its outstanding contribution in promoting 3Zero Clubs. The 3Zero Clubs is based on the concept of youth involvement on promoting zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emission. Ms. Ranjana Niraula, Training Department Head of JBLBSL has been felicitated for her outstanding contribution in supporting to promote as well as establish 3 Zero Clubs.

Jeevan Bikas has facilitated in establishing more than 350 3 Zero Clubs where Ms. Ranjana Niraula alone has helped to establish more than 100 3 Zero Clubs through her initiative. Currently 1290 3 Zero Clubs have been established in 51 countries around the world.

With a total of 468 3Zero Clubs, Nepal leads in terms of number of 3Zero Clubs established. The 3 Zero Clubs have been working in 20 categories where 288 clubs alone are working in the field of environment which is the highest in any category.

On the occasion of 13th Social Business Day  which was held in Langkawi, Malaysia from July 27-28, 2023, Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was awarded second time with 3Z Support Organization Award.

Similarly, Mahila Samudayiks Sewa Kendra of Dang District was also felicitated for facilitating members of microfinance for marketing their products as well as providing them fair price though the establishment of Green Shop Nepal Mahila Samudayiks Sewa Kendra P. Ltd. (GSNMSSKPL). The members of microfinance are the owners of GSNMSSKPL.
