Empowering Women Entrepreneurs with Digital Literacy

The digital proficiency is crucial for business success, a three-day digital literacy program has equipped 39 micro-entrepreneur members of MFIs and Cooperatives with essential skills for navigating digital marketplace. The training, held from 31st Shrawan to 1st Bhadra 2081, was hold at the Sahara Nepal SACCOS Ltd., Birtamode. It was tailored to enhance the digital capabilities of microfinance clients.
The objective of the training was to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills to efficient and effective use of digital tools for boosting business operators. The training conducted hands-on session on utilizing digital tools for business operations, creating and managing online presence, engaging customers through social media, leveraging e-commerce platforms for product sales, logistics and utilizing digital financial services which are both cost effective and builds financial profiles of the concerned.



The training catered 39 participants, of which were 37 female and 2 male. The group was diverse and engaged in various sessions aimed at enhancing their digital literacy and business acumen. The sessions were led by a team of experts from Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) consisting Mr. Satish Shrestha, Director, Ms. Renu Prajapati, Senior Officer and Ms. Saru Magar, Senior Assistant and Mr. Ankur Shrestha, Assistant Manager of Microsave Consulting Pte., Singapore.
The training techniques comprised a mix of lectures, video clips, discussions, and exercises on key digital parameter. The training sessions included: an introduction on digital literacy by Mr. Satish Shrestha, who highlighted its critical role in present business environments. The experience sharing session was facilitated by MFI client Ms. Pavitra Chettri who has a Nursery Business at Arjundhara, Jhapa and also a key YouTube Influencer with her own channel ‘Pavitra Garden’ with a +65 Thousand followers as well generating a monthly revenue of NPR 25-45 Thousand every month through monetization.

Ms. Renu imparted on how does effective packaging enhance product quality and brand identity, showcasing examples to inspire participants in creating innovative packaging for their own products. Mr. Ankur Shrestha addressed risks and security issues related to digital transactions while Ms. Saru Magar guided participants through social media use for business promotion and online transactions.


The participants were engaged in practical exercises such as registering their businesses was Nepal’s top e-commerce agency: the DARAZ and learning techniques for capturing high-quality product photograph. The training emphasized effective on branding and packaging to attract consumers.
In the valedictory session chaired by Mr. Satish Shrestha, Director of CSD, prominent officials of Sahara Nepal SACCOS Ltd.  Treasurer, Mr. Dambar Bahadur Deuja, Board Members, Mr. Bhola Dhital and Ms. Parvata Giri Bharati and Director Mr. Laxman Khatiwada made their kind presence. Participants praised the training for its practical impact and expressed their commitment to leveraging digital tools for business growth. Mr. Satish Shrestha commended the participants for their enthusiasm and emphasized on the importance of continued digital engagement. Mr. Dambar Bahadur Deuja also expressed support for future digital literacy initiatives and extended best wishes to CSD for their ongoing efforts. This training program marks a significant step in empowering micro-entrepreneurs with the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s interconnected world.
