Advancing Digital Financial Literacy in Lalitpur
The Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) organized a customized two-day training program on Digital Literacy for micro-entrepreneur members of Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. on August 23-24, 2026 in Godawari, Lalitpur. Designed to help micro-enterprises keep pace with modern technological advancements, the program brought together ambitious microentrepreneurs from three operational branches: Taukhel, Lubhu, and Bungamati. The participants represented a diverse spectrum of local economic activities, including homestays, fancy stores, commercial agriculture, and animal husbandry, all seeking to enhance their business workflows through digital adoption.
Throughout the interactive workshop, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum tailored to bridge the digital gap for traditional rural and semi-urban businesses. The first day laid the groundwork by focusing on fundamental concepts of digital entrepreneurship, effective online communication, and modern customer service strategies. A major highlight of the opening sessions was hands-on instruction in internet-based financial transactions, where participants gained direct experience with digital wallets and online payment systems through step-by-step transaction simulations.
The second day elevated the learning experience by introducing key business growth and security concepts. Participants explored essential marketing practices-including branding, packaging, and practical exercises in logo design-to help them build distinct brand identities for their products. Recognizing the risks associated with going online, the facilitators conducted a critical module on cybersecurity and cyber awareness to ensure participants can conduct digital transactions safely. The sessions concluded with practical insights into e-commerce opportunities and a formal evaluation, leaving participants better equipped to expand their market reach and streamline daily operations.
The program was skillfully facilitated by expert resource persons from CSD, including CSD Director Mr. Satish Shrestha, Senior Officer Ms. Renu Prajapati, and Senior Assistant Ms. Saru Magar. Through hands-on exercises and real-world examples, the facilitators equipped micro-entrepreneurs with essential digital tools, financial security knowledge, and operational skills to successfully grow their businesses online.
